The Editor's Corner

With the publication of our first issue for 1955, we think we can say with moderate certainty that "Gisborne Photo News" is well on the way to becoming a permanent feature of the local scene. We are naturally proud of the progress we have made with a project for which only nine months ago we could find no precedent anywhere else in the world. We have been fortunate in the interest and help extended to us in Gisborne, so that when we now wish to thank our readers we must count our thanks in thousands. We are greatly heartened by this very considerable public support.

We are heartened, too, by the birth of a contemporary. Last December saw the second local pictorial start in New Zealand, "Pegasus Pictorial", published at New Brighton, Christ-church. Our best wishes for its success.

At present we feel that we are still only lightly skimming over the field of local news which could be conveyed in pictures, and once again we invite all readers to keep us in touch with functions or events for which we should have pictures. Our phone number is 6276.
