×

The Gisborne Old Folks Association took a big step forward last month in the provision of amenities for its members with the official opening of its rooms in Bright Street. Our photograph (above) shows the president, Mr J. Curtis, extending a welcome to the gathering from the stage of the hall. On the stage with him (left to right) are Mr J. Moss (past president), Mrs Curtis, the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker (who declared the rooms open), and Mrs Barker, Mrs Carter (lady vice-president), Mrs Salt (past vice-president), Mr H. B. Williams, Mr R. A. Keeling, M.P. and Mrs Keeling. Also on the stage, but not visible, were Mr F. Collin (past president), and Mr P. Forge.

The rooms as seen from the street. The building was formerly the Methodist Church.
In his remarks, the Mayor said that with such a building there should be no loneliness among old folk in Gisborne.
