On the Motuhora Line

Some day, perhaps, the railway will run from Gisborne north to link up with the main system at Taneatua, but in the meantime the railhead at the Gisborne end is at Motuhora, a little over 50 miles inland. Recently 30-odd members of the N. Z. Railway and Locomotive Society, only four of whom were "professionals", chartered a train and had a look at the line. These photographs, taken by Mr R. Hepburn, of the locomotive staff at Gisborne, shows:
