Robert Farmer, son of Mr and Mrs R. H. Farmer, Gisborne, who has been accepted into the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and has started his career at Woodbourne Station. An old boy of Gisborne High School, he has been a prominent member of St. John Ambulance, a member of the Thistle junior soccer team, and in athletics is the P.B. mile walk title holder.

Donald Brown, son of Mr and Mrs D. H. Brown, fire station, Bright Street, who recently received from the Governor-General, Sir Willoughby Norrie, Chief Scout for the Dominion, a certificate of meritorious conduct in recognition of his record of cheerfulness and devotion to Scout duty in the face of severe illness.

The newly-completed Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, in Gladstone Road opposite the new high school, was dedicated recently, when 300 delegates attended. An interior view of the ceremony.
