Dame Flora Holds Court

×

It was a great day for the McLeods in early January when the chief of the clan, Dame Flora McLeod of McLeod, visited the district. She spent two days here, meeting members of the clan and attending functions. One of these was a bonny day in the showgrounds, with Highland dancing, the skirl of the pipes, races for the children, a welcome from the Mayor, and a fund of clan stories from Dame Flora. Above, surrounded informally by younger McLeods, she is seen recalling an ancient episode in clan history, in which (if we remember rightly) the Macdonalds got rather the worst of it.
