This Month's Cover

Athletics in Gisborne have been in the spotlight more than once in the last year or so. The highlight last season came with a new world record for the women's broad jump, established at the local ground by Miss Yvette Williams.

This season, the club had many of the country's top athletes starring here in near-record times, heights & distances. On that day we took our cover picture of T. Martin, a promising local junior who is one of the many young athletes from whom Gisborne is expecting big things in the future.

Recently the club brought all three trophies back from the H.B.-P.B. centre meeting at Hastings.
