Cubs in Camp

The annual district Scout Cub camp for "sixers" was held at Sunnyvale motor camp at Morere recently. The 79 in camp included cubs from Gisborne, Te Karaka, Tolaga Bay, Tokomaru Bay, Wairoa, and Nuhaka.

The flag goes up to signal the opening of the camp, while cubs stand at attention.

Cubs really enjoyed the baths at Morere, and camp routine included instruction in aquatic arts. Cub masters kept a watchful eye on the boys, and every five minutes a whistle was blown, at which signal each boy had to find his swimming partner.

In the pleasant grounds of Sunnyvale, boys are given instruction in life-saving, and what to do in cases of emergency. Boys in foreground are demonstrating the Holger-Neilson system of artificial respiration under the direction of lady cubmasters.
Camp was in charge of Miss J. McGregor, assistant District Commissioner of Wolf Cubs, and Mrs D. T. English was camp mother.
