Members of the Gisborne Piping and Dancing Association held a social recently when trophies won at the recent A. and P. Show were presented. Men at rear are Mr Colin King (president P. and D. The "pub" at Matawhero, which is shortly to be demolished. Those who fear a drought this summer need not be alarmed, however, because a new hotel of modern design is to be erected next door at left of this picture. As part of the re-alignment of highways in this district, the new road will go past the re-built hotel, thus obviating the present right-angled corner. Photo was taken on occasion of a Hunt Club meet this season, when members gathered at the hotel in honour of the proprietor, Mr "Wattle" Wilson, who has long taken a keen interest in horseflesh.
