At the Church on the Hill

×

The little church at the foot of Kaiti Hill, always a picturesque spot for visitors motoring to the summit, presented a colourful sight on October 30 for the marriage of Barbara KereKere, third daughter of Mr and Mrs K. KereKere, Norfolk Rd., Gisborne, and Te Pouwhare Tupara, son of Mr and Mrs George Tupara, Patutahi.
In the bright spring sunshine, the newlyweds come down the path from the church, followed by their attendants, en route to the Poho-o-Rawiri Meeting House, where a wedding breakfast was served to hundreds of guests from all parts of the country.

From the office of the Bank of New Zealand to a fruit farm at Ormond was the transition for Florence Ruth Crafts, second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. T. Crafts, Stout Street, Gisborne, with her marriage to William Douglas Bell, son of Mr and Mrs W. D. Bell, Ormond, at the Baptist Church on October 23.
Among the guests was at least one girl whom the bride had known during a recent trip overseas, and who has since emigrated to New Zealand.
