Representative Football

×

The Poverty Bay forwards covered themselves with glory in their recent game with the N.S.W. country touring team, in which the local representatives won by 15 points to 3. The photograph above, taken near the end of the game, shows P.B. pressing hard on the N.S.W. goal line. The P.B. forwards, in white shorts, are shown as they were for a great part of the game, packing low as a team. These tactics paid dividends.

Lineout Superiority

Poverty Bay played a magnificent game on the day, and fully justified the theories of the sole selector, Mr E. Halstead, and the work of the team's coach, Mr N. Summersby.

These three pictures tell the story of Poverty Bay's superiority in the line-outs, in which they secured possession 27 to 17. In all three pictures Ken Chambers (dark shorts) is the only N. S. W. player really getting up to the ball. In the picture at right, R. A. White (P.B.) is contesting possession with Chambers after it has passed T. Glover (P.B.).

Glover is making no mistake this time. Other P.B. players shown are White and Donovan.

White is there before Chambers again.
