Far more famous is Gisborne's unique "Star of Canada" house on the corner of Childer's Road and Cobden Street. Every year it attracts thousands of sightseers. Consisting of the bridge deck of the "Star of Canada," which was wrecked at Kaiti Beach in 1912, it is a dwelling complete with every detail, including navigation lights and lifebuoys, while the steering wheel is part of the fence.
