War Memorial

Revised sketch plans of the War Memorial Centre proposed for Gisborne have now been approved by the Government architect and the Department of Internal Affairs. With this important step achieved, working plans and specifications can now be finalised, and tenders called for the construction of the building. Colonel R. F. Gambrill, chairman of the Board of Trustees for the project, considers that tenders may be called within a couple of months. The model pictured on this page, made at an earlier stage, is substantially the same as the present plans envisage. To be built on the corner of Childers Road and Bright Street, it will be a handsome addition to Gisborne's community buildings. The architects are Glengarry, Glengarry and Corson.
