Badminton

Badminton, one of the fastest of games, is now a firm favourite with large numbers of players in Gisborne and the East Coast.

These photographs, taken with the co-operation of members of the Gisborne Badminton Club in the Army Hall, illustrate some of the aspects of the game.

(3). As Niven completes smash shot, the "bird" can be seen leaving racket at high speed (sometimes up to 60 m.p.h.).

(5). Backhand drive is completed by Cummins. First-class badminton is faster than tennis, requires high standard of fitness.
