At the Races

×

Large fields and a high standard of racing marked the first day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club's autumn meeting on May 22. There was a large attendance of the public. Our photos show, at right, the scene at the "tote" before the sixth race, the Publican's Purse Hack Handicap. Below, Miss N. E. Blake's Sleepy Jean has an easy win in this race from W.J. Torbett's Karinis, with Jewel Denby and Tower Clock behind.
