Here and There

Tahuna Putting Green

A new sporting amenity for visitors to Tahunanui, a putting green opposite the Lions playground at the beach, was opened by Dr Kay Bradford, medical superintendent of Braemar Hospital, last month. Proceeds from the first day's play went to the hospital. After opening the course, Dr Bradford played Nelson's M. P., Mr Stan Whitehead, in the opening round, and P. R. O., Mr Sean O'Hagen, played Mrs Whitehead.

Dr Bradford is obviously going to make a clean sweep of this hole.

Mr Whitehead lines up a tough one, all of 6 inches.

Mrs Whitehead is obviously in trouble, and Sean O'Hagan is going to lick this hole if it kills him.

Sixteen children from Std 4 to Form 2 at Mapua School took a 12-day educational tour around the southern part of the South Island last month. They visited Christchurch, Dunedin, Alexandra, Queenstown and Mount Cook. They are seen here, ready to leave, with their headmaster, Mr W, L. Freeth (extreme right) and parents who accompanied them, Mr and Mrs C. S. Tucker (back right) and Mrs R. T. Sutton.
