Major Fire At Freezing Works Averted
The promptness and efficiency with which the seven-man brigade at the Nelson Freezing Company's works acted when fire broke out in a temporary storeroom at the works probably prevented a major outbreak there. Outside the storeroom there was little indication of a serious fire, but Nelson's Chief Fire Officer, Mr Hec Oliver, said later that the fire could have reached serious proportions had the company brigade not acted so promptly. The fire burned out a changing room and caused moderate damage to the interior.
