"Twistin' the Night Away" - Beachcomber Style
A balmy night, a low tide and jazzy music were the main ingradients for the surf club's annual night show, the Beachcombers' Ball, A big crowd of teenagers made whoopee in the central arena and their elders and those who got the show for free, swarmed around the outside. The talent quest run in conjunction produced a greater variety of talent than last year and an added attraction was a rocket display.
Finalists in the twist contest, won by Fred Mant (Nelson) and Joanne Elkington (D'Urville Island) at left rear
Val Gellatly and Ron Parkin do the Charleston
Pam McKenzie and Lyn Slaven, both of Nelson, harmonised on two guitars
