Power Boats Perform

Ideal conditions prevailed for the annual powerboat race held by the Nelson Yacht Club and the Monaco Boat Club off Rocks Road. Nine boats competed in the open section, won by Tony Shuttleworth and Grant Evans in a 17ft. fibreglass Lightning design craft powered by a 125hp Johnson outboard. The handicap section drew 25 entries. It was won by the Bowater family, Ray and his sons, Rodney and Derrol, in Toledo.
