Progress in Kaiti

Yes, Kaiti's going ahead these days. With hundreds of new State houses being built on the Fitzgerald Block, and hundreds more to go on the Sherriff Block, the population of this favoured corner of Gisborne is going up by leaps and bounds.

In keeping with the suburb's new-found development, the Kaiti Progressive Association is building a big hall on the Kaiti War Memorial Park, and a number of other building enterprises are in progress.

Bulldozers are even gouging out house sites on the hills at rear of the Fitzgerald Block. This picture was taken from an elevated site looking over the main development area.

New St. David's Church is taking shape, alongside the older building.

Meanwhile construction work is proceeding apace on Ilminster School in De Lautour Road, designed to take care of increasing population.
